Awards: 2006: Pepinieres map XXL grant awarded residency, Haus der architektur, Graz, Austria. 2005- 2006: The Fire Station Artists in the Community Studio Award. 2005: Travel Bursary The Arts Council of Ireland.2004: A gold ICAD (Irish creative advertising and design) award for ‘home’ the publication designed by Atelier David Smith and Oran Day. The publication represented Ireland in the Art Directors Club Europe ACDE awards.‘Irish print award’ for ‘Home’ the publication, printed by Wood Print Craft. 2002-2005: Residential studio in the Fire Station Artists Studios, Dublin. 2003: Artist in the Community Scheme.

Self-initiated art projects: 2005-2006: The ‘Umbrella Project’ a participatory event based project involving six walking tours, umbrellas and dance in the north inner city of Dublin supported by the Fire Station Artists studios and Dublin City Council. 2002-2004: Home - Rhona Byrne and Ballymun Pigeon Club, a collaborative event based project with the Ballymun Pigeon Club and residents of Ballymun. Included an event (pigeon release) carrying written wishes, a photographic and video exhibition with a young pigeon auction and a publication documenting the event. 2002: Bloomers day in monto - collaborative community theatre production and re-enactment of James Joyces’ walk through the 1920s red light district Monto. 2002 - present: a member of the artists collective Mongrel Foundation.
